Adrar was founded in 1994 by a group of students and professionals. It’s aim has been to promote the culture and language(s) of Imazighen, and by doing so to contribute to a positive self-image.
Between 1994 and 1998, Adrar published its newsletter ‘Adrar-Nieuwsbrief’ (available for download here), and a book for learning Tarifit (the Amazigh variety spoken mostly in the Rif and in a number of European countries, especially The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany).
In 2011, Adrar -in association with Amazigh TV- started the production and diffusion of educational programs on the local TV channel SALTO 2 in Amsterdam, and in 2013 a radio program was intitiated to cater for discussions of topics with high social relevance, and the diffusion of Dutch language lessons.
Starting from 2017, Adrar has been givng lessons in Tarifit (speaking, reading, writing and grammar). The lessons are organized according to level: absolute beginners, intermediate and advanced learners. For more information and registration, click here.
